Twitching in Left Arm Exists

Hello guys!A week ago I had really strong twitching in my left forearm that lasted for 3-4 hours, then, 1 day later I developed twitching in my left triceps that lasts for around 6 days now.I experience twitching when I twist or bend my arm, it was constant when I do that for the first 4 days, then 5th day I didn't notice it and this morning it started again. My forearm didn't twitch anymore after that first twitch btw. Also, when I work that muscle, for example do 10 pushups, twitching stops for the next minute or so.I don't notice any weakness in hand, , so I was wondering if this is BFS or it could be smth serious like ALS?Thank you

Certainly doesn't sound like ALS. Thats for sure.It might even be too early to call it BFS afer just one week. You're still in that range where it might just be an overworked muscle, dehydration, or something temporary like that. -Matt

Agreed with Mat. Of course we are not physician here (well, in fact they are some but I am not), so you can understand we can't diagnose you. But I also think that 1 week twitching could be just an small episode in your life for whatever reason your muscles get hyper excitated. Try to relax, rest and have an healthy life for next 2 weeks and see what's next ? Your twitches may be gone at this time :)

I can honestly say I hate Google. After my forearm twitches I google to see if it's maybe heart related and first heard of ALS, then triceps started to twitch and since I read that it's usually 1 limb that twitch my brain is probably *beep* with me and only my left triceps is twitching. Anyway, did a fool arms workout today...if there is muscle weakness, it's definitely not noticeable.Thank you for your answers. Since you are on this site you probably went through this type of anxiety...

I've found a post from a 27y old guy who has recently been diagnosed with ALS, and his first symptoms were fasciculations in biceps and thights ( so not only 1 area) and weakness came later...I guess he was 1 in 165000000 but these kinds of stories make me scared to death.

Yeah but he said he had weakness within 4 months of the twitching. If you've been twitching for 6 months or more without clinical weakness you can pretty much guarantee it's BFS.

Oh sorry didn't realize your twitching just started. Everything you described points to bfs. You have more of a chance getting struck by lightning than having ALS. The more you worry the more you will twitch. I know it's hard but try and not worry about it.

I'm new to this site, and it's easier said than done, but try to focus on something other than what you're feeling. It doesn't help when you hear of the "one" story about a person that was diagnosed with A*S that started with a particular symptom. You can ALWAYS find a way to mold your symptoms into your worst fears. I have been to 2 seperate flight docs, and 1 nuero. EMG that was clean and I still find ways to convince myself otherwise. Like you, mine started in one particular place, I looked some stupid stuff up, and next thing you know, I'm scared to death and have twitches all over the place. By the way, the trips to the flight docs and the nuero were all for my own peace of mind. Very stressfull period of time, and I still struggle with it now. It doesn't sound like anything serious to me, with the disclaimer that I am not a doctor but another person just like you. Please, if it gets to the point of taking over your life, get in to see your doctor. Our flight surgeons are very smart, professional doctors. I promise you that there is a lot your doctor can tell you without even having to go to the nuero. The neuro visit for me was simply to help get me past this, my doctor didn't think I needed to go simply because of the symptons I was presenting.Mike

MommyRissa,I completely agree. Do not even click on that link, or ever read it again if you have. You can always find some "outlyer" to fit your fears. Do not feed your fears!
