Hi everyoe, I don't post much on here these days but I thought I'd come-on today and post an answer I gave to someone that asked me a question about the validity of EMG test results found in an old article from who knows where. Tey said the article said EMG test results can be inaccurate. Below is my response that I think many of you should read:------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------As with anything, there are always cases where false readings can be concluded in any test. Third world countries with out dated - broken down equipment, uneducated / unexperienced doctors performing those tests, doctors with the golf course on their mind rather than what they are doing at that time, and many other reasons. A test is only as good as the equipment being used, and the skill and experience of the person performing the test. It's is that way with anything. The problem is, (and this is going to sound harsh, but take it for what its worth. I don't mean it to sound harsh), is new BFS'ers come on our site where we provide ACCURATE and collective information from TENS OF THOUSDANDS of people who share their collective experience, doctor visits and information and question everything we say and try to prove us wrong. We have been collecting this information for over a decade now so we can provide the most accurate, up to date info we possibly can, but people (like yourself) continue to look for that ONE thing out there on the internet to prove everything we say as wrong or inaccurate. Wasn't it misleading information that you found out there when you did your first search on "twitching" that sent you into your panic about ALS in the first place? You found false, inaccurate and misleading information right from the start, just like most people do. Sooner or later people find our site, like pretty much everyone does, and then you doubt the accuracy of what we say on here. That has always puzzled us here. Do we have "dumb" stamped across our forheads or something? Do people think we sit around and make all of this up because we have nothing better to do?If everything we say is wrong, go through all of the posts and try to find ONE person that has gone-on to develop ALS or ANYTHING worse than BFS. 95% of them still have active e-mail addresses that you can send a private message to to find out for yourself. You won't find anyone that had ALS, or had their BFS turn into anything worse than what it is (benign BFS) because they don't exist, so why continue to look for more false, misleading and inaccurate information out there when we already have THE most and best information right here on our site with REAL people to back it all up?Doctors and neurologists come to our site for information. Does that tell you anything about the accuracy and trust in the collective information we have? When you find OLD articles like that, you need to take everything into perspective and not dwell on ONE thing in it that may sound different than what we say here. You are questioning what you found in ONE "old" web site article, when there is SO MUCH MORE information put out by so many more HIGHLY EXPERIENCED people on here that say completely the opposite. No one on this site, out of tens of thousands of them, has been "that one case" to prove us wrong... NO ONE! You won't be that one person either, so please read all of the information you can that is on our site and use it to help get yourself out of the mess you are in right now with fear and anxiety over something that is benign and that has NEVER gone-on to hurt anyone. There is SO much information we have put on here explaining what ALS is and what BFS is, and what the differences are, and why the twitches are completely different from eachother, why the symptoms are completely different. It would take someone weeks to go through everything, which is why I wrote "BFS in a Nutshell" at the top of most threads, and also came back and wrote "Why You Don't Have ALS" 1 & 2. Those 3 articles right there contain ALL of the information anyone could ever dream of finding on both BFS and ALS. Take that info and think about how many people we have had on this site over the past 10 or 12 years who shared their experience with NO ONE going-on to develop ALS or anything worse. That is as proof positive that we know what we're talking about as you can get.I hope that helped ease your mind. Take all of the info you find out there at face value and consider the source you're getting that info from before you come to any conclusions. I think our track record here speaks for itself.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Now, on top of that, to even FURTHER back-up what I and many other's have been saying on hre, look at the article posted by MPLS1970 titled "The Mayo Study - A Must Read". It appears the Mayo Clinic realized their first study that said 6.7% of peopel with ALS presented with twitches only was as flawed and as inaccurate as we said it was right from the get-go, so they did another study that gives as much proof positive as you can get that BFS is BFS, and it is benign and NEVER tirns onto anything other than what it is... BFS. For you "doubters" out there, you need to find and read that study in MPLS1970's post, because it is 100% exactly parallel with what we have been saying for over a decade now! How much more proof do you need? It's time to STOP all of the doubting! Take a deep breath, sit back and read what we have been saying all along on here and start to get on with your life again. BFS is BFS. It has NOTHING to do with ALS, nor are any of the symptoms like ALS (including the twitches)! No one, and I do mean NO ONE, has had BFS turn into ALS, and the Mayo Study once again proves that (which it actually did in the first study they did if you took EVERYTHING they said into perspective instead of DWELLING on that one inaccurate 6.7% BS number). As we've said many times on here. This ain't our first rodeo! if what we say and know was wrong, we'd know it by now, and that simply isn't the case. Have a good one!Alonzo
