Dents in Shin: Experiences?

Hey everyone!Oh no not another dent post! Well I know this is trivial but I would like to know if anyone else has noticed this. I have some dents in my shin. Now I have read that you can injure your shin and it can leave dents...but these arent on the "shin". I have one that runs from below my knee cap...and snakes around over my shin to the other side of my shin. Its about as wide as a the edge of a quarter and about that deep. Whats funny is I never noticed this but my mom did. She said "Sean whats wrong with your leg". I looked down and was like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO". They are hard to see because I never looked for it. If its pointed out its VERY obvious. But you can run you finger over the dent and its not in the bone but in the muscle. It just snakes around the front of my leg, not in a straight but curvy line. I also have one near the top of my knee cap thats jus a dent maybe 1/4 of an inch long. So have any of you noticed any "shin dents" or any lines or grooves on the front of your leg? The only worry I have is its the leg that my foot never stops twitching, the other shin does not have any thing like this. So let me know if you guys know what I am talking about or have noticed it. Like I said I have read that it can be from an injury and the fat is moved from that area. But It would have had to be a whopper of an injury and I dont recall ever doing that to myself. Let me know if you can relate! Thanks!Sean B.

I can relate in sense but I injured my leg by tearing a ligament and a muscle. No weakness no trouble. If your going to look for something and you just can't help it have your neuro test it. How long has it been since you last saw your mother? I don't see my mother for up to 1 year at a time and its I got fatter, lost weight....point is when you don't see someone for some time they see things in you they may have forgotten. I don't know that this is the case with you but I think you have been tested before. Besides I do think there is some atrophy with BCFS/BFS because if disuse not because of ALS atrophy.

Oh yeah I dont think its atrophy. I wanted to see if anyone had any injuries or anything that would cause that. I also have REALLY bad shin splints so that might be it also. Maybe I should have posted under "off topic conversations". I know that weakness comes before atrophy...and anyways this isnt the entire muscle or even a part of it....just a tiny groove in it. She saw this on this past Saturday, like I said I never noticed it. I am trying to remember if I had a really bad accident that involved that shin, and I dont remember. So I just wanted to see if anyone had injuries or anything that also had these dents or lines in their shins. =)

Well then count me in for dents due to injuries! Two months after my muscle and ligament tear and obvious right calf atrophy I climbed Mt. Emory at Big Bend. While not the tallest mountain by a long shot it demonstrates that I don't have ALS and can have atrophy due to an injury. I did have therapy but mostly it was me working my leg out and not babying it.
