Brisk Reflexes - My Recovery Story

Brisk reflexes-checking in!

I had them, and tremors, twitching, widespread pain, stiffness (both from lack of movement and exercise,) widespread subjective weakness. No ALS or MS here. Negative emg's and MRI's, and now I'm feeling just groovy only eight months later.

My reflexes were so brisk I almost darn near kicked the neurologist the one time. He never flinched. In my case it was a combination of anxiety and BFS. The nerves are irritated, and the anxiety helps them to be moreso.

Try to relax and focus on anything but your symtpoms. Easier said than done, but it ultimately really helps to lessen the symptoms.

Doug,

Regarding reflexes, my neuro and GP both told me basically the same thing. They were looking for change in reflex. The Cleveland Clinic Forum says that is why it is important to know the "baseline" reflexes.

A good neuro can tell the difference between brisk and hyperreflexia

Mine are brisk all of the time. I mean, I could make David Beckman look bad

On the other hand, my husband hardly has any reflex response. He has been this way since high school. I guess we balance each other out ;)

Also, I was told they look for symetry (and in some cases, asymetry is even normal)
